In Budva, Montenegro, the inaugural Summit of Speakers and Presidents of Parliament from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) gathered senior officials from the UAE and Montenegro to fortify bilateral connections.
Maryam Majid bin Theneya, the Second Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) and Chair of the FNC Parliamentary Division at PAM, engaged with Dejan Đurović, who heads the Parliament of Montenegro's delegation to PAM, during the summit.
Maryam commended the PAM summit's exemplary organization and expressed gratitude for the warm reception from the Montenegrin Parliament towards all delegations. She underscored the strengthening ties between the UAE and Montenegro, emphasizing the necessity of augmenting parliamentary collaboration, especially in economic and investment sectors.
Discussions also highlighted the vital need to uphold navigation freedoms and protect international maritime routes. Both sides acknowledged that persistent regional tensions are adversely impacting not just regional stability but also global energy markets, international trade, and the broader economy.
Dejan Đurović stressed the critical role of dialogue and diplomacy in mitigating regional disputes and averting further escalation. He pointed out the importance of education in fostering the principles of dialogue, mutual respect, and peaceful inter-state relationships.
This meeting exemplified a mutual dedication to enhancing parliamentary collaboration and fostering stability through diplomatic efforts.
