Colombian music icon Shakira has officially unveiled a glimpse of her new track “Dai Dai,” designated as the anthem for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The teaser, filmed at Brazil’s celebrated Maracanã Stadium, captures Shakira delivering an energetic performance alongside backup dancers. The snippet includes lines sung in English: “Here in this place / You belong… What broke you once / Made you strong,” complemented by male vocals harmonizing with her.
In a post on her social media, the full release date is announced for May 14, and notably, the song features Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy, marking a global collaboration for this World Cup anthem.
The tournament kicks off on June 11, beginning with Mexico going head-to-head against South Africa at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, while the grand finale is scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, close to New York City.
Shakira has a rich history with World Cup music, having previously released the famous anthem “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
It’s important to note that “Dai Dai” is distinct from another official promotional song by Coca-Cola, a reimagining of Van Halen’s “Jump,” featuring artists like J Balvin, Travis Barker, Amber Mark, and Steve Vai.
The Coca-Cola version introduces new Spanish lyrics by J Balvin, infusing Latin and Brazilian influences to celebrate the global spirit of football.
Through “Dai Dai,” Shakira is set to make another memorable return to the World Cup, upholding her longstanding connection to this prominent sporting event.
