Strengthening UAE-Canada Ties: High-Level Meeting

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, held a meeting with the Right Honourable Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, focusing on bolstering bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation. The Canadian Prime Minister’s official visit was marked by a warm reception from H.H. Sheikh Mohamed at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi.

During their discussions, the leaders reflected on the enduring partnership between the UAE and Canada, which has progressively developed over the past fifty years. They emphasized their mutual commitment to leveraging this strong bond and aiming for innovations in crucial sectors like investment, trade, technology, artificial intelligence, clean energy, climate action, education, culture, and sustainability.

They also deliberated on regional and global issues of shared interest, reaffirming their dedication to fostering peace, security, and stability on both fronts, while highlighting the essential role of multilateral cooperation in creating prosperity for all nations.

H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed emphasized that the UAE-Canada relationship exemplifies successful cooperation that promotes growth and prosperity both regionally and globally. He pointed out that both nations share similar perspectives on supporting development, peace, and collaboration on a global scale, forming a solid groundwork for future partnerships.

Prime Minister Mark Carney praised the advancements in UAE-Canada relations through the years. He reiterated Canada’s commitment to further enhancing collaborative efforts in areas that align with the interests of both countries and highlighted that their cooperation positively impacts global peace, stability, and prosperity.

As a significant part of the visit, both nations finalized an agreement aimed at safeguarding and promoting investment. This agreement is designed to stimulate economic collaboration, back strategic investment initiatives, and contribute to the shared development objectives of both countries. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan signed on behalf of the UAE while Prime Minister Mark Carney signed for Canada.

Additionally, a memorandum of understanding on investment cooperation was announced, showcasing a mutual desire to elevate economic partnerships and explore fresh opportunities to strengthen UAE-Canada ties.

The meeting was also attended by senior UAE officials, including H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, among other ministers and dignitaries.

This high-level engagement, along with the agreements signed during the talks, underscores the robust partnership between the UAE and Canada. Both nations are committed to furthering collaboration in trade, investment, technology, and sustainable development, ensuring lasting benefits for their populations and contributing to both regional and global stability.

Through these endeavors, the UAE and Canada are manifesting their dedication to a future rooted in cooperation, shared advancement, and mutual respect, while fortifying connections that have thrived for over fifty years.
