On Monday, three astronauts from China’s Shenzhou-23 spacecraft made a successful entry into the Tiangong space station, marking the start of a new crew handover mission.
As reported by the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA), the Shenzhou-21 mission crew opened the hatch of the station at 5:13 am Beijing Time, warmly welcoming their incoming colleagues.
This meeting between the two astronaut teams signifies the official commencement of the crew rotation procedure aboard the Tiangong space station. Throughout the transition period, both crews will collaborate in orbit until the Shenzhou-21 astronauts return to Earth.
China’s Tiangong space station is pivotal to the country’s advancing space initiative, facilitating long-duration human missions, scientific research, and the testing of new technologies in outer space.
The successful docking of the Shenzhou-23 crew underscores China’s ongoing achievements in space exploration and its commitment to enhancing operations at the Tiangong station.
