The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai is embarking on a comprehensive field inspection initiative targeting air-conditioned bus shelters as part of preparations for Summer 2026.
This initiative encompasses 895 locations distributed across 621 sites in the city. Its primary objective is to ensure that every shelter operates seamlessly, providing comfort to commuters amid rising temperatures.
Abdulrahman Al Janahi, the Director of Buildings & Facilities within the RTA Dubai, emphasized the authority's devotion to keeping public transport facilities in excellent condition. This campaign involves rigorous inspections and proactive maintenance to guarantee all air-conditioned bus shelters are ready for the summer heat.
He elaborated that RTA routinely conducts field inspections as part of its operational plans. Monitoring teams operate around the clock to detect technical issues and implement immediate corrective measures. Improvements are also integrated into this campaign to boost the shelters' performance and operational reliability.
In addition, the RTA has begun public awareness campaigns on social media and has installed informational signage at bus shelters. These efforts aim to encourage commuters to maintain cleanliness and care for public facilities.
Moreover, the RTA has introduced official channels for passengers to provide feedback or report any issues regarding bus shelters. The “Madinati” service available through the RTA mobile app enables efficient handling of all reports by specialized teams, ensuring prompt responses and high levels of customer satisfaction.
Designed with eco-friendly materials, the air-conditioned bus shelters are built to endure extreme weather conditions, including heat and strong winds. Featuring contemporary designs and spacious advertising areas, they contribute significantly to Dubai’s sustainable urban landscape.
These shelters are compliant with the Dubai Universal Design Code, ensuring accessibility for People of Determination with amenities such as wheelchair spaces and digital screens that deliver real-time bus network updates.
Through this proactive initiative, RTA aims to advance public transport services, enhancing comfort, safety, and efficiency for every commuter in Dubai.
