PLUS Promotes Strategic Travel Planning Ahead of Busy Holiday Period

PLUS Malaysia Berhad is advising motorists to strategically plan their trips in anticipation of heightened traffic following the Hari Raya Aidiladha festivities and the holiday period. The highway operator encourages road users to take advantage of the MyPLUS-TTA digital travel scheduling tool to mitigate congestion and facilitate smoother journeys on the nation’s key expressways.

Between June 4 and June 7, traffic volumes are projected to soar, marking these days as peak travel periods. PLUS estimates that about 2.2 million vehicles will traverse its highway network daily during this timeframe, largely due to holiday travelers returning to urban areas, especially the Klang Valley, after festive celebrations.

To assist with the anticipated increase in traffic, PLUS recommends that road users adhere to the travel schedules available via the PLUS mobile app. The MyPLUS-TTA platform offers suggested departure times that are designed to distribute travel flow throughout the day, ultimately reducing bottlenecks at critical highway locations.

In its traffic management approach, PLUS has activated Smart Lane operations at 33 key spots along its expressway network. These temporary measures aim to enhance traffic flow and maximize road usage during heavy congestion periods. Traffic personnel and monitoring teams will be present to ensure swift management of any incidents impacting traffic movement.

PLUS has assured travelers that facilities at Rest and Service Areas, as well as lay-bys, will operate around the clock. Essential services, including food outlets, prayer rooms, restrooms, and convenience provisions, will be accessible 24/7 to cater to the anticipated traveler influx during the holiday return phase.

Motorists are reminded to verify their Touch 'n Go card balances and ensure adequate funds are loaded in RFID and JustGO accounts before entering the highways. PLUS highlighted that insufficient toll payment balances can lead to delays at toll plazas, exacerbating congestion during busy travel times.

For live traffic updates, travelers can consult the PLUS App, Waze, Google Maps, electronic message boards, national radio outlets, and the company's official social media channels. PLUS stressed the importance of responsible trip planning, compliance with traffic advisories, and safe driving habits to ensure a smooth and secure journey during this peak travel season.
