Oman Charitable Organization (OCO) has unveiled a focused training initiative on International Humanitarian Law aimed at bolstering the expertise of humanitarian workers throughout the GCC. This two-day event, held in collaboration with the Secretariat General of GCC States, gathers representatives from Red Crescent societies, OCO staff, and various government officials.

The purpose of this initiative is to elevate understanding of fundamental humanitarian law principles and enhance the effectiveness of personnel involved in humanitarian efforts. The curriculum emphasizes key practices in delivering relief, safeguarding civilians, and appropriately responding to crises and emergencies.

On the first day, attendees engaged in panel discussions and hands-on exercises designed to equip them with the knowledge necessary for conducting humanitarian operations according to international guidelines.

Badr bin Mohammed Al Zaabi, Acting CEO of OCO, stated that this program exemplifies the organization's dedication to fostering both regional and global collaboration in humanitarian efforts. He highlighted that International Humanitarian Law serves as an essential framework for protecting individuals during times of crisis and conflict.

Al Zaabi further emphasized the significance of cooperative actions among GCC nations to bolster the readiness of humanitarian organizations. This program aims to prepare personnel to respond promptly and efficiently while upholding international legal standards.

Through such endeavors, OCO is committed to enhancing the capabilities and preparedness of humanitarian teams, facilitating their ability to deliver aid effectively and ethically across the region, while reinforcing the relevance of international legal standards in all emergency operations.
