Mother of Missing Nova Scotia Siblings Engages in Search Efforts Nearly One Year Later

Post by : Shweta

Almost a year has passed since the mysterious disappearance of Jack and Lilly Sullivan in Nova Scotia, prompting their mother, Malehya Brooks-Murray, to join a volunteer-driven search initiative seeking answers. Brooks-Murray participated in a fresh operation near Lansdowne, where her children were last seen in May 2025.

The search was facilitated by Please Bring Me Home, an organization dedicated to locating missing persons across Canada. Approximately 40 volunteers, accompanied by a trained dog for human-remains detection, scoured wooded paths and adjacent areas close to the family's residence. During the search, a possible clue—a child-sized boot print—was found less than a kilometer away from a previously discovered piece of Lilly's blanket. This data and its GPS coordinates have been forwarded to investigators.

Despite the discovery, ambiguity lingers. Organizers noted the challenge in assessing the timeline of the footprint's creation or its potential link to the missing siblings. Nonetheless, the finding has sparked a renewed sense of optimism that further evidence could surface as search efforts proceed.

Jack and Lilly, aged four and six respectively at the time of their disappearance, were reported missing after their mother and her then-partner, Daniel Martell, alerted authorities that the children might have ventured from their home unnoticed. According to their narrative, they were inside resting when they discovered their children were missing. The incident quickly evolved into one of the most scrutinized missing persons cases in the region.

Throughout the past year, the case has attracted significant public attention and speculation, particularly on social media. While Brooks-Murray has largely refrained from public commentary, she recently shared her perspective, noting that she left the area soon after the tragedy due to emotional turmoil and overwhelming circumstances. She has affirmed her full cooperation with law enforcement while concentrating on the care of her younger child.

Authorities from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police continue to probe the case, investigating all feasible scenarios, including accidental wandering and the possibility of criminal involvement. Furthermore, digital evidence is being scrutinized as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Organizers of the search emphasized the importance of involving the mother given their belief in her innocence and her commitment to locating her children. Volunteers reported a supportive and active role for Brooks-Murray, helping to organize search teams and cater to their needs on the ground.

As the timeline stretches nearly a year later, the enigma surrounding Jack and Lilly Sullivan's fate remains unsolved. However, both investigators and volunteers convey their unwavering determination, expressing optimism that solutions will eventually materialize—whether through ongoing searches or new investigative findings.
