In a significant meeting in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane reiterated the longstanding friendship between India and Nepal. The dialogue underscored the essential role of enhancing bilateral relations through development, connectivity, and fostering people-to-people engagement.

Describing Nepal as India's “priority partner”, Modi emphasized the unique historical and cultural ties that bind the two nations. He remarked that these civilizational links provide a strong base for collaborative growth across various sectors.

This meeting followed Lamichhane's separate conversations with India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Home Minister Amit Shah, during which regional security, economic cooperation, infrastructure projects, and improved cross-border connectivity were key topics of discussion.

Following the meeting, Lamichhane spoke of the productive exchange with Modi, highlighting the concept of “development diplomacy.” He stressed creating initiatives for economic progress and enhancing the living standards of people on both sides of the border.

Lamichhane noted the potential benefits of digital connectivity, modern transit systems, and stronger trade relations. He stated that a future-oriented partnership anchored in shared cultural heritage and seamless connectivity could drive mutual prosperity and trust.

Both leaders acknowledged the increasing importance of infrastructure development, energy partnerships, tourism growth, and technology collaboration. These elements are becoming vital as India and Nepal pursue deeper regional integration.

This meeting exemplifies the sustained positive trajectory in India-Nepal relations, suggesting a mutual commitment to enhance cooperation in critical strategic and economic areas. Observers believe these discussions could further advance existing bilateral projects and fortify the bond between these neighboring countries.
