Kuwait International Airport Targeted by Iranian Missile Attack, Operations Suspended

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

In response to a missile and drone strike by Iranian forces on Wednesday, Terminal One of Kuwait International Airport has been severely impacted, prompting the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) to initiate their emergency response plan.

PACA spokesperson Abdullah Al-Rajhi confirmed that protocols for ensuring the safety of passengers and staff were swiftly enacted following the incident. Emergency measures are in line with pre-established guidelines.

As a direct result of the heightened security threat, all flight operations at the airport have been put on hold. Air traffic has been redirected to adjacent airports while response teams assess the situation.

To facilitate a safe return to normalcy, Al-Rajhi mentioned that both security and technical contingency strategies are in motion, with teams already evaluating the damage inflicted by the attack, which must be addressed before any repair work can commence.

Authorities are yet to provide a timeline for when Kuwait International Airport might reopen, as assessments of the damage continue.
