Dubai Celebrates National Month with a Grand Finale of Events

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Dubai has officially concluded the vibrant second edition of National Month, a month-long series of events embracing national pride, cultural vibrancy, and widespread public involvement. Spearheaded by Brand Dubai, the creative sector of the Government of Dubai Media Office, this initiative saw collaboration among over 250 governmental, semi-governmental, and private entities, showcasing the city’s enduring spirit of partnership.

This year’s National Month celebrated significant national milestones, kicking off with Flag Day and culminating with the 54th Eid Al Etihad. All festivities were embraced under the #ZayedAndRashid theme, paying homage to the Founding Fathers of the UAE—Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum—whose vision underpins the nation's unity and advancement.

From the outset, the public's engagement was remarkable. Families, residents, tourists, and citizens throughout Dubai enthusiastically participated in events that epitomized loyalty, identity, and unity—the fundamental values the campaign sought to highlight. The staggering participation was also mirrored online, with over 160,000 digital posts and 75 million video views, creating an astounding global outreach of approximately 2.9 billion.

A standout aspect of this year's program was the robust cooperation among Dubai’s diverse institutions. Numerous government bodies, cultural organizations, community collectives, and private enterprises collaborated to transform national values into unforgettable experiences. Organizers noted that this collaborative spirit is pivotal to Dubai’s approach to national events, continually strengthening the bond between its people and the nation's aspirational future.

Throughout the month, innovative storytelling took center stage. Over 150 local businesses partaking in the Proudly from Dubai initiative contributed unique concepts and community-focused experiences to the festivities, promoting local entrepreneurship and showcasing Dubai's creative prowess.

The events commenced on November 3 with Flag Day. At the Dubai International Financial Centre, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum raised the UAE flag in front of the Gate Building, which featured a large artwork of Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid designed by Brand Dubai, merging elements of the UAE's historical narrative with symbols of its ambitions in innovation and space.

One of the month’s most popular attractions was the Flag Garden in Umm Suqeim 2, where 11,000 flags were meticulously arranged to create a large 60-by-90 meter portrait of the two leaders. Thousands of residents and tourists flocked to this site throughout the month.

The celebrations continued citywide, showcasing a range of artistic and cultural initiatives. The Dubai Metro carriages on the Red Line displayed images of the Founding Fathers alongside verses from the poem ‘The People and the Leader’. At Expo City Dubai, the renowned Firdaus Women’s Orchestra delivered a special musical tribute inspired by the same poem, infusing the festivities with a global creative touch.

Another highlight was a monumental 82-meter ground artwork crafted near Dubai Frame. Made of multi-colored gravel, the portrait of Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid was designed to be viewed from above, emerging as one of the city's most striking commemorations during National Month.

The celebrations came to a close on December 2 with the Al Etihad Parade, featuring over 500 vehicles in a moving spectacle that spanned from Union House—where the Union was founded—to Burj Al Arab, symbolizing the UAE's journey from its historical inception to its contemporary successes.

With a heart centered on community participation, creative expression, and nationwide pride, this year's National Month wonderfully illustrated how deeply people are connected to the UAE's narrative and its aspirations for the future.
