Marco Rubio Lauds Taj Mahal's Grandeur on India Visit

Post by : Shakul

Marco Rubio visited the famed Taj Mahal during his official trip to India, lauding it as a “true treasure of the world.” Rubio, accompanied by his wife Jeanette, spent nearly one and a half hours exploring this prominent cultural icon.

While at the site, Rubio penned a special message in the visitors’ book, expressing his awe for the monument and thanking Indian officials for the opportunity to appreciate what he described as one of the world’s greatest treasures. US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, joined the American delegation throughout the tour.

The Taj Mahal remains a pivotal attraction for global leaders and dignitaries visiting India. Erected by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of Mumtaz Mahal, the stunning white marble structure is celebrated as one of the quintessential examples of Mughal architecture, luring millions of tourists annually.

Rubio's visit is part of his four-day diplomatic mission to India. Prior to this, he visited the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata, followed by significant meetings with Indian officials in New Delhi, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also engaged in delegation-level discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

His visit conveniently precedes the upcoming Quad Summit set to take place in India, where leaders and foreign ministers from India, the United States, Australia, and Japan will gather to deliberate on Indo-Pacific security, regional cooperation, and the increasing geopolitical complexities in Asia and West Asia.

The Taj Mahal has historically hosted numerous world leaders, including former US President Donald Trump, who previously praised this monument as an enduring symbol of India’s rich culture and heritage during his visit with former First Lady Melania Trump.

Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983, the Taj Mahal continues to be one of the most revered monuments globally. Rubio’s acknowledgment of this site underscores India’s cultural significance and its evolving role in global diplomacy and international relations.
