BJP Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut has enthusiastically congratulated the BJP, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, following their significant win in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
The victory holds personal importance for Kangana, whose office near her Mumbai home was demolished by the BMC under Shiv Sena’s reign in 2020. With the Shiv Sena now removed from power, she views this outcome as a form of retribution.
“I’m thrilled about BJP’s tremendous victory in the Maharashtra BMC elections. My warmest congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ji, and the entire BJP team in Maharashtra for this amazing achievement,” Kangana expressed.
Reflecting on previous challenges, she stated, “Those who mistreated me, destroyed my office, and attempted to scare me into leaving Maharashtra have now been rejected by the populace.”
Kangana commended the electorate for sending a resolute message to what she termed “women-haters, bullies, and the nepotism cartel.”
Current results highlight that the BJP is leading in 90 out of the 210 announced wards, while Eknath Shinde’s faction of Shiv Sena holds 28. The NCP, contesting separately under Ajit Pawar, is leading in three wards.
Within the opposition, the Shiv Sena (UBT) is ahead in 57 wards, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena in nine, the Congress in 15, and various others are securing eight.
This decisive election outcome marks the end of the Shiv Sena (UBT)’s prolonged dominance over the BMC. The BJP participated in 137 seats, while the Shiv Sena contested 90, and divided NCP factions put forward independent candidates, illustrating the fractured contest.
Moreover, results from the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal elections signify a waning influence of the Pawar-led factions, as voters have not consolidated support even with strategic alliances.
This election signifies a pivotal political shift in Mumbai, firmly placing BJP in control of the city’s richest municipal authority after years of opposition rule.
