India’s Transition Under Shubman Gill
With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired, 26-year-old Shubman Gill has taken charge, guiding India through a phase of team transition. Under his leadership, India secured a dominant victory in the opening Test by an innings and 140 runs and earlier drew 2-2 in England, demonstrating depth and resilience.
Batting Brilliance from the Indian Line-Up
With the missing key West Indies pacers Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph, India capitalized on the opportunity. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 175 in the first innings and Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 129 helped India post 518-5 declared, giving the bowlers ample room to dominate.
West Indies’ Glimmers of Resistance
Despite consecutive Test whitewashes, the West Indies showcased fight, particularly in the second Test. John Campbell (115) and Shai Hope (103) added a 177-run partnership for the third wicket, while Justin Greaves and Jayden Seales contributed 79 runs for the final wicket on a slow pitch challenging India’s bowlers.
India’s Commanding Follow-On
After enforcing the follow-on following West Indies’ first-innings 248, India maintained control through disciplined batting and precise bowling, closing out the series with authority.
India’s 2-0 series victory reflects the team’s growing depth and balance under Shubman Gill. KL Rahul’s composed finish and Kuldeep Yadav’s match-winning bowling showcased a well-rounded side, while West Indies demonstrated signs of rebuilding and resilience for the future.
