Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), along with its partners Keolis MHI and Future Maintenance Technologies (FMT), has introduced a new smart robot called ARIIS. This robot will help check and inspect Dubai Metro’s tracks using Artificial Intelligence (AI), without stopping the trains. The new robot system, called the Automated Rail Infrastructure Inspection System (ARIIS), is the first of its kind in the region.

This is a big step forward for Dubai Metro. It shows how Dubai is becoming a world leader in using smart technology and building a safer and greener future.

What Is ARIIS and How Does It Work?

ARIIS is a smart robotic system that uses special tools like:

  • LiDAR sensors (to scan surroundings with lasers)

  • 3D cameras (to take clear, detailed pictures)

  • Laser tools (to check for damage or problems on the tracks)

This robot moves on its own and inspects metro tracks and other parts of the system. It does all of this without stopping any trains, which means passengers won’t face any delays.

What Experts Say

Abdul Mohsin Kalbat, the CEO of RTA’s Rail Agency, said,“Dubai is proud to be a leader in using smart technology to make the Metro more reliable and efficient. ARIIS is another big step in keeping Dubai Metro one of the safest and best in the world.”

David Franks, Managing Director of Keolis MHI, added,“This robot changes the way we do our maintenance. It makes our work safer and faster, and helps us make smarter choices based on real-time data.”

Loic Ayoul, the CEO of FMT, said,“We’re happy to work with RTA and Keolis MHI. ARIIS is helping make Dubai Metro’s system even stronger, safer, and better for the future.”

Why ARIIS Matters for Dubai

ARIIS is more than just a robot. It’s a smart solution that helps Dubai reach its Smart City goals. It supports clean and sustainable transport and shows how new technologies can improve daily life for everyone in the city.

Benefits of ARIIS

Here are some of the key benefits of this new smart system:

  • Improved Safety:
ARIIS can reduce the need for human workers to do risky track inspections by up to 70%, and it can check the tracks 40% more effectively.

  • Faster and Efficient Work:
With ARIIS, checking the tracks takes 75% less time. What used to take 2,400 hours can now be done in just 700 hours!

  • Better Maintenance:
ARIIS uses data to predict problems before they happen. This helps prevent breakdowns and can lower repair costs by 25%.

  • Smarter Decisions:
Since the robot gives real-time data, workers can make better choices. This improves how resources are used and cuts down waste by 40%.

Dubai Metro’s Bright Future

With the help of ARIIS, Dubai Metro is getting even better. It shows how the city is leading the world in smart and clean transportation. Thanks to this smart robot, Dubai is not just building better trains—it’s building a better future.
