Djokovic Bows Out of Adelaide International to Focus on Australian Open

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, has announced that he will not take part in the upcoming Adelaide International tournament next week. The 38-year-old Serbian, often celebrated as one of the all-time greats in tennis, made the announcement via social media.

“To all my fans in Adelaide, regrettably, I am not physically prepared to compete in the Adelaide International next week,” Djokovic stated. He highlighted the personal disappointment of this choice, saying, “It truly saddens me, as I have cherished memories of winning there.” Having previously claimed the title, his withdrawal resonates deeply, given his bond with the city and its supporters.

He emphasized that his focus is now solely on gearing up for the Australian Open in Melbourne. Djokovic reassured fans, saying, “I am eager to arrive in Melbourne soon and connect with all the tennis enthusiasts in Australia.” His aim is to ensure he is in optimal physical and mental shape for the year's first Grand Slam.

Set to take place from January 18 to February 1, the Australian Open is a tournament where Djokovic has consistently thrived. He hopes to secure his 11th Australian Open title, which would further solidify his record for most victories at Melbourne Park. This win would also mark his 25th Grand Slam title, enhancing his legacy in the sport.

While Adelaide fans will miss witnessing Djokovic in action, the tennis community now looks towards Melbourne, where he aims to continue his extraordinary journey and reach new historic achievements. His withdrawal from Adelaide highlights the meticulous preparation that elite athletes undertake, especially ahead of crucial tournaments where each match matters greatly.
