The ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon 2024 has been awarded the Bronze prize in the “Fan Solution Category” at the Leaders Sports Awards 2024 in London. The recognition highlights the event's improvements in engaging spectators and boosting community involvement, reinforcing its status among top international road races.

Staged by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in partnership with ADNOC, the marathon attracted more than 33,000 participants from around the world, including elite runners, recreational athletes and families, across formats from the full marathon to community fun runs. The occasion combined high-level competition with broad public participation.

Organisers prioritised innovation, sustainability and inclusion for the 2024 edition. Measures introduced included cutting single-use plastics, monitoring the event’s carbon footprint and adopting more sustainable operational practices. Outreach efforts were expanded through school programmes and interactive social media campaigns promoting healthy living.

“This recognition reflects the combined efforts of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, ADNOC and our partners,” said Talal Mustafa Al Hashemi, Executive Director of Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. “It underlines our commitment to delivering a world-class sporting event that integrates athletic excellence, community engagement and sustainability.”

The Bronze award at the Leaders Sports Awards underlines Abu Dhabi’s growing influence on the global sporting stage and underscores the UAE’s focus on promoting fitness, innovation and inclusive fan experiences.
