UAE and IDA Partner for Global Disability Empowerment

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

The UAE has marked a significant advancement in its commitment to inclusivity and social growth on a global scale. During the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, the Zayed Authority for People of Determination (ZAPoD) formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Disability Alliance (IDA) to enhance cooperative efforts aimed at empowering People of Determination.

The agreement was co-signed by His Excellency Abdullah Abdulalee Al Humaidan, Director General of ZAPoD, and Dr Nawaf Kabbara, IDA President, with representatives from various international organizations and experts present at the summit.

This MoU focuses on fostering knowledge exchanges, training programs, research initiatives, and collaborative global projects geared towards disability inclusivity. It strengthens ZAPoD’s resolve to establish strategic alliances that foster innovation and sustainability in social empowerment efforts.

A notable aspect of this partnership involves supporting the Global Disability Summit 2028 by providing advisory and technical assistance. Additionally, both parties will explore the potential for Abu Dhabi to host the Global Disability Summit in 2031, further cementing the UAE’s status as a center for inclusive development.

The scope of cooperation also includes organizing specialized workshops, side events at international conferences, and participation in UN committees dedicated to disability rights. These initiatives seek to share best practices and champion equal opportunities worldwide.

This agreement symbolizes a pivotal moment in the UAE’s mission to enhance social inclusion and generate meaningful opportunities for People of Determination. Through this international partnership, ZAPoD remains dedicated to realizing the UAE’s vision of a community where every individual has the chance to take part, contribute, and flourish.
