Xi Jinping Advocates for Broader Implementation of Yiwu Development Model

Post by : Shakul

Xi Jinping has issued a pivotal directive urging the broader utilization of the “Yiwu development model” to foster high-quality economic growth across China. This guidance underscores the necessity of tailoring successful local frameworks to the unique conditions of diverse regions.

Addressing the nation from Beijing, Xi pointed out that Yiwu’s triumph exemplifies how small industries can evolve into robust and competitive markets. The city has successfully transformed its small commodities sector into an essential economic force, creating the so-called “Yiwu development model.”

Chinese leadership views this framework as a prime illustration of leveraging local resources and grassroots innovation for development. Xi urged regions to carefully analyze this approach and implement it in alignment with their own economic realities.

He also highlighted the critical role of reform, innovation, and practical measures. In his view, sustained efforts and commitment are essential for achieving high-quality, sustainable growth that will positively impact local communities and the national economy.

The narrative of Yiwu's success is deeply intertwined with its emphasis on trade and entrepreneurship. The city has established an extensive network of small enterprises, collectively achieving a formidable global presence in the export sector.

Currently, Yiwu boasts over 1.26 million business entities and engages in trade with more than 230 countries and regions. By 2025, it’s projected that its export volume will be the highest among all county-level regions in China, underlining its global significance.

Xi’s directive aims to inspire other regions to adopt similar developmental paths. By capitalizing on local advantages and fostering innovation, China aspires to fortify its overall economic framework and secure balanced, sustainable growth moving forward.
