Vietnam's ambition to become a premier destination for global technology investment has been underscored during the recent Vietnam Innovation Investment Forum 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City. This influential gathering brought together senior government officials, international investors, and technology firms to explore the future of innovation and private investment in the nation.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang highlighted that Vietnam is entering a transformative phase emphasizing science, innovation, and digital progress. He noted significant advantages in the country such as its political stability, a rapidly expanding economy, a youthful, digitally adept workforce, and extensive free trade agreements.
The event was hosted by the National Innovation Center in conjunction with the Ministry of Finance and the Vietnam Private Capital Investment Development Organization. Over 1,000 attendees, both local and international, reflected the surging global confidence in Vietnam’s economic and tech environment.
Notably, Vietnam's economy is close to the 500 billion dollar mark, drawing strong investments in key sectors including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and green technology. Authorities predict these industries will be pivotal for sustainable national growth.
Additionally, the Ministry of Finance announced ongoing efforts to modernize the capital markets and boost transparency, aiming to meet international standards. The government is also focused on enhancing support for venture capital, innovation financing, and public-private collaborations to draw long-term sustainable investments.
During the summit, the Vietnam Technology and Innovation Investment Report 2026 was unveiled alongside the Vietnam Capital Flow Index. These reports offer a thorough examination of investment trends, startup dynamics, and venture capital operations within Vietnam's evolving innovation sector.
Key discussions emphasized the necessity for a robust innovation ecosystem utilizing AI and digital finance. Investment experts shared insights on strategies to boost capital access for tech startups while fostering comprehensive innovation initiatives.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang further reiterated that Vietnam aspires to be recognized not just as a manufacturing base but as a long-term partner in global technology and innovation. He stressed the importance of attracting advanced technology, talent, and modern management systems.
Plans to establish an international financial center in Ho Chi Minh City were also reiterated, aimed at linking global capital with Vietnam’s thriving innovation landscape. Leaders believe this initiative will enhance Vietnam’s stature as a financial and technological hub in the region.
Concluding the summit, officials reiterated Vietnam's commitment to refining its investment environment, safeguarding investor rights, expediting digital transitions, and enhancing intellectual property laws to ensure it remains an appealing destination for worldwide tech investment.
