The UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation has confirmed the Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup will occur from May 2 to May 3 at the Shabab Al Ahli Club in Dubai. This exciting event will see nine prominent clubs from the nation compete in a team-oriented structure.

Participants will be vying for a total prize pool exceeding AED1 million, to be distributed among the top three clubs across all competition categories. Preliminary matches are set for Saturday, leading up to the finals on Sunday.

The championship will include four divisions: adults, under-18, under-16, and under-14. Depending on the number of teams entered, match formats will include best-of-three contests and round-robin phases leading to the finals.

Regarded as a significant highlight in the UAE’s sports calendar, the Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup is renowned for its high-caliber competition and notable club participation.

In the previous year's tournament, four clubs secured titles: Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club triumphed in the under-14 class, Al Ain won the under-16 title, while Al Jazira clinched the under-18 category, and Baniyas emerged victorious in the adult division. These results emphasized the increasing level of talent and competitiveness within the clubs.

Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Federation, remarked that this tournament is vital for the local sports scene, fostering team cohesiveness and performance. He emphasized the significance of such events in providing athletes with valuable experiences that contribute to nurturing national talent.

Ribamar Santiago, Head Coach of Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club, observed that competing in teams necessitates tactical planning over several rounds rather than concentrating on one-on-one bouts. He anticipates this year’s event will be more demanding, owing to enhanced preparation from all participating teams.
