On Tuesday, the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) celebrated an impressive milestone with the graduation of its inaugural Class of 2026. This significant event took place under the auspices of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.
This year, 1,321 students successfully graduated across various academic programs. The cohort comprised 484 graduates from the College of Business, 285 from the College of Computing and Information Technology, 341 from the College of Engineering and Technology, and 211 from the College of Health Sciences.
During the ceremony, HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater recognized 250 high achievers for their academic performance.
HE Dr. Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, who is the President of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, delivered a speech emphasizing the significance of education and innovation for Qatar’s sustainable future.
Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, President of UDST, congratulated the graduates, acknowledging the exceptional nature of their accomplishments throughout a demanding academic year and underscoring the value of practical learning.
He also shared the university's forward-thinking strategy, which now encompasses 80 academic programs, including new prestigious master's, bachelor's, and diploma offerings in vital areas such as midwifery, health administration, and veterinary science.
Furthermore, UDST is placing strong emphasis on applied research, aiming for advancements in renewable energy, food security, and health technologies. An ambitious carbon neutrality initiative has also been introduced to align with Qatar National Vision 2030.
The UDST President further noted the importance of real-world experience for students, facilitated by modern laboratories, simulation tools, and collaborations with industry, ensuring graduates are work-ready.
Valedictorian Mohamad Al-Qassabi expressed his pride in representing his peers at the ceremony.
This graduation event signifies a pivotal moment in UDST's commitment to blending academic knowledge with the practical skills necessary for the job market, showcasing its influence on the educational landscape in Qatar.
