UAE's Strong Advocacy for Peace at IPU Assembly

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

During the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Istanbul, Sara Mohamed Falaknaz represented the UAE Parliamentary Division at a crucial session.

The focus of the Committee on Middle East Questions was on current regional dynamics, highlighting escalating tensions and their implications for security and stability. The agenda also included discussions on ongoing humanitarian and political issues, alongside international efforts aimed at curbing further conflicts.

In her remarks, Falaknaz condemned the hostile actions against the UAE, other Gulf nations, and Jordan, asserting that such violence is indefensible. She reiterated the UAE’s steadfast commitment that its territories, airspace, and waters would not serve as bases for hostile undertakings against any state.

Falaknaz raised the alarm over recent attacks attributed to Iran, affecting civilian zones and vital infrastructure like airports and essential services. She characterized these acts as blatant violations of international law and threats to peaceful coexistence.

She warned that assaults on civilians and infrastructure constitute a perilous escalation that jeopardizes regional security. Falaknaz reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to promoting both international and regional initiatives towards achieving peace and stability.

Highlighting the importance of political discussions and diplomatic resolutions, she also pointed to the vital role of parliamentary institutions in fostering peace, collaboration, and meaningful dialogue.

In her closing remarks, Falaknaz urged the global community to amplify their efforts in safeguarding civilians and securing crucial trade routes and supply chains, essential for both regional and global stability.
