KHORFAKKAN, UAE: The UAE proudly added a significant milestone to its sports history by clinching the Outdoor Badminton World Cup – National Teams Relay Race, triumphing over China with a score of 60–54 in a captivating final on Khorfakkan Beach.

Spearheaded under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, this championship showcased elite international teams in a distinctive outdoor format that evaluated skill, endurance, and collaboration. The intense final captured the audience’s attention as the UAE battled fiercely against China, maintaining excitement until the very end.

During the closing ceremony, Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Chief of the Sharjah Ruler’s Office in Khorfakkan, honored the UAE national team, marking a pivotal moment for both the athletes and the event’s organizers. This occasion emphasized Khorfakkan’s emerging status as a premier venue for global sporting events, marrying competitive thrills with a beautiful coastal backdrop.

In addition to the relay race, the tournament hosted triples competitions, with Brazil winning the men’s triples title, and China taking home the women's triples championship, which enriched the event's global allure.

The tournament wrapped up with the presentation of the championship shield and acknowledgments for the organizers, partners, and supporting entities that contributed to its successful execution. Featuring 96 participants from 12 nations across various continents, the competition represented the widening international appeal of outdoor badminton.

A robust turnout throughout the event illustrated the sport's increasing popularity, especially among Emiratis, as badminton continues to gain traction in the UAE. This victory not only showcased the national team’s prowess on a global scale but also reinforced the country's dedication to nurturing and promoting emerging sports through innovative formats.
