Strengthening UAE-Luxembourg Relations Amid Regional Tensions

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

During his official visit to Luxembourg, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Prime Minister Luc Frieden.

The discussions focused on the robust bilateral relations between the UAE and Luxembourg, exploring avenues for enhanced collaboration in vital areas including trade, economy, and investment, among others that align with each nation's development ambitions.

Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the vast opportunities for partnership and reiterated the UAE's dedication to fortifying its relationship with Luxembourg, aimed at fostering sustainable growth and development.

Moreover, the leaders exchanged insights regarding pressing regional and global issues that concern both nations.

Particular emphasis was placed on recent incursions by Iran, which have targeted civilian locations in the UAE using missiles and drones, and their potential repercussions on maritime security, global energy supply chains, and the broader economy.

They also addressed drone assaults originating from Iraqi soil, including an incident involving the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, where an electricity generator just outside the plant was struck.

Prime Minister Frieden expressed his country's solidarity with the UAE and unequivocally condemned the assaults. Sheikh Abdullah, in turn, acknowledged Luxembourg's supportive stance and assured that the safety and security of all residents and visitors in the UAE is paramount.

The meeting saw participation from top UAE officials, including Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, and Ambassador Mohamed Ismail Al Sahlawi.
