UAE Unveils Groundbreaking Date Processing Facility to Combat Hunger

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

In a significant humanitarian endeavor, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has unveiled an ambitious project targeting global hunger and child malnutrition.

On Friday, he announced the establishment of the world’s largest date processing factory, with the primary goal of supplying nutrient-dense food for children in underprivileged areas. This venture is part of his extensive global humanitarian initiatives, supported by various partners.

The factory aims to produce an astonishing 150 million fortified food units based on dates each year. These products will be directed specifically at children facing malnutrition, with the intent of enhancing their nutritional access and overall health.

Emphasizing the importance of this project, Sheikh Mohammed remarked on the UAE’s abundance of palm trees and how dates have served as a crucial food resource throughout history. He stated that this initiative transforms a vital natural asset into a valuable nutritional product to address pressing hunger issues on a global scale.

This initiative stands as a testament to the UAE's ongoing dedication to humanitarian causes and sustainable approaches to fighting food insecurity worldwide.
