In a significant move to strengthen their ties, the United Arab Emirates and India convened a high-ranking meeting in Abu Dhabi. This pivotal discussion was co-chaired by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, alongside India's External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. Senior officials from both nations participated, underscoring the commitment to enhance bilateral relations.
This meeting marked the Sixteenth Session of the UAE–India Joint Committee and the Fifth Strategic Dialogue. It illustrates the impressive progress in diplomatic relations and the strong political rapport established between the two countries.
A diverse group of senior ministers and officials engaged in discussions that spotlighted their dedication to expanding mutual cooperation. There was unanimous agreement to further collaboration in political, economic, cultural, and educational domains for the benefit of both nations.
During the sessions, both parties reviewed progress under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which has significantly bolstered trade relations and edged closer to a goal of 100 billion US dollars in bilateral trade.
Attention was also directed toward advancements in digital payments. The conference praised the linkage of India’s UPI system with the UAE’s AANI platform and the incorporation of RuPay and JAYWAN cards. These innovations are expected to streamline transactions, cut costs, and benefit businesses, workers, students, and travelers alike.
Education emerged as another pivotal topic, with both leaders commending the Gandhi–Zayed Center for Peace, Tolerance and Sustainability Studies for its role as a vital initiative. They also celebrated the swift progress of IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi, underscoring it as a hallmark of academic partnership and excellence.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed remarked that the enduring growth in bilateral relations is a testament to the visionary leadership of both countries. The meeting concluded with the signing of official minutes, marking a significant milestone in fortifying the strategic partnership between the UAE and India.
