Eighteen-year-old Enzo Bettamio has been extradited from the United Arab Emirates to the United Kingdom, facing charges in connection with the murder of 27-year-old Kamonnan Thiamphanit, known as Angela.
Bettamio arrived in the UK from Dubai on Friday and was charged shortly after his landing, making his first court appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
At the hearing, he was remanded in custody and is set to appear at the Old Bailey on 28 April. He confirmed his identity and date of birth but did not enter a plea.
The Metropolitan Police reported that Thiamphanit was discovered with multiple stab wounds at her Westminster residence on 8 April 2024, where she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, leading the investigation, expressed gratitude towards the victim’s family and friends for their enduring patience and support during this challenging time, describing it as an “incredibly difficult and distressing time” for them.
Authorities confirmed that Thiamphanit’s family has been kept informed of recent developments and continues to receive assistance from specialized officers.
Thiamphanit, a dual national of Chinese-Hong Kong and Thailand, had spent approximately nine years in the UK, initially arriving for university studies and later entering the property management field.
