CMU-Q Celebrates Record Admissions at Marhaba Tartans Event

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), affiliated with Qatar Foundation, recently celebrated its annual Marhaba Tartans event, designed to welcome new students and provide insights into university life as they finalize their decisions.

This year's admissions cycle was unprecedented for CMU-Q, attracting over 3,000 applicants. To accommodate this surge, the university has boosted its first-year class size to 140, marking a 20% increase compared to the previous cycle.

During the Marhaba Tartans event, CMU-Q Dean Michael Trick addressed the incoming students, commending their accomplishments. He stated, “Class of 2030, you represent a very exclusive group, and I extend my heartfelt congratulations for your admission to Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar. Your hard work and commitment in high school have demonstrated your curiosity and creativity. Well done.”

CMU-Q provides five undergraduate programs: artificial intelligence, biological sciences, business administration, computer science, and information systems. Students enrolled at the Qatar campus adhere to the same admissions criteria as those in Pittsburgh, USA, and complete identical degree requirements. Degrees are conferred by Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

The Marhaba Tartans event offers students a chance to delve into academic life at CMU-Q, engage with faculty and fellow students, and gain a deeper understanding of the programs before making their final enrollment choices.
