Post by : Bianca Suleiman

The Emirates College for Advanced Education, in collaboration with the Zayed Authority for People of Determination, has formalized an agreement designed to enhance educational, training, and rehabilitation services specifically for People of Determination across the United Arab Emirates.

This partnership is set to cultivate specialized professional programs, improve quality standards, support scientific research, and nurture local talent in special education and rehabilitation sectors. Both organizations emphasized that this initiative aligns with the UAE's vision to establish a cohesive and sustainable society with equal opportunities available to all.

The agreement outlines collaboration on the design and deployment of targeted training programs that adhere to the National Qualifications Centre's standards, addressing the specific needs of People of Determination. Additionally, there is a notable emphasis on creating standardized assessment instruments to evaluate the professional and technical skills of both students and specialists in education and rehabilitation.

Included in the agreement are provisions for accredited training programs and practical training opportunities tailored for People of Determination within sanctioned educational frameworks. Experts from both sides will also share knowledge regarding educational evaluation systems and quality enhancement.

The Emirates College for Advanced Education pledges to support the employment preparation of People of Determination through yearly workshops and programs concentrating on adaptive learning techniques and inclusive educational strategies.

His Excellency Abdullah Ismail Al Kamali, the Executive Director of the People of Determination Sector at the Zayed Authority, remarked that the agreement embodies their strategy to establish a holistic education and rehabilitation system grounded in innovation, quality, and institutional collaboration.

He noted that enhanced partnerships between educational institutions and rehabilitation organizations are crucial for training specialized national professionals and developing research-driven training programs that meet market demands.

Dr. May Laith Al Taee, Director of the Emirates College for Advanced Education, expressed that this collaboration supports the UAE leadership’s goal to fortify inclusive education and erect an education system primed for future challenges that accommodates all learners.

She also stated that the college will engage with partners to provide educators and specialists with cutting-edge, research-based pedagogical methods and educational technologies aimed at better assisting People of Determination.

A key feature of this agreement is the introduction of the UAE's inaugural Level 4 Professional Diploma in Sign Language Interpretation, which will train certified interpreters in line with international professional benchmarks.

Diploma graduates will obtain licenses from the relevant authorities in the UAE, enabling them to pursue careers in various sectors while enhancing specialized services for the deaf community. This initiative also aligns with the preparations for the World Congress of the Deaf, scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi in 2027.

Moreover, the agreement encompasses the inception of a shared mentoring program to facilitate the exchange of best practices in the realm of special education. Both entities will collaborate to train qualified professionals in education and rehabilitation, thereby promoting Emiratisation via joint academic and training ventures.

Furthermore, this partnership will create field training and employment opportunities for graduates and encourage specialists from the authority to pursue further studies at the Emirates College for Advanced Education.

The agreement further promotes collaborative research initiatives and studies pertaining to People of Determination, focusing on their rights, living conditions, sensory perception, and educational methodologies. Results from this research will inform improvements in educational programs, rehabilitation services, and professional practices associated with special education.

Officials confirmed that this partnership highlights both organizations' commitment to sustained collaboration and positions the UAE as a leading model globally for the inclusion, education, and empowerment of People of Determination.
