During the Review Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Convention on Nuclear Safety (CNS) at the International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Arab Emirates presented its Tenth National Report.
This report highlights the nation’s unwavering commitment to high standards in nuclear safety, transparency, and global cooperation, fulfilling its obligations under the legally binding Convention on Nuclear Safety designed to ensure the safety of nuclear plants globally.
A Major Achievement: Barakah Plant Now Fully Operational
Among the report's key points is the successful full commercial operation of all four units at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, marking a pivotal step in the UAE's peaceful nuclear energy initiative and significantly contributing to energy security.
Enhanced Regulatory Framework and Developments
The document highlights advancements in the UAE’s nuclear regulatory framework, which includes updates from the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation such as:
Improved regulations for physical security and cybersecurity
