This final week of May, Turkmenistan is gearing up for a mix of scorching temperatures and localized rain as weather patterns evolve across the nation. The national Hydrometeorological Service projects that some areas could hit highs of 40 degrees Celsius, with intermittent rain showers expected.
In Ashgabat, the week's weather is set to be partly cloudy, with daily highs expected to rise from around 28°C to close to 40°C as the month concludes. Nighttime temperatures will remain cooler, generally between 16°C and 24°C.
In the Ahal velayat, predominantly clear skies are anticipated, leading to swiftly rising temperatures, with some districts possibly nearing 41°C, indicating a stronger onset of early summer heat in the region. Residents should take care during peak warming hours.
Balkan velayat will experience a mix of cloudy and sunny periods. Inland zones may witness temperatures spiking between 35°C and 40°C, while coastal areas by the Caspian Sea are expected to remain somewhat cooler, with temperatures ranging from 26°C to 31°C due to sea breezes.
The Mary velayat will predominantly see clear and dry conditions this week, with projected temperatures climbing from the upper twenties to around 40°C. Similar weather is likely in the Lebap velayat, where clouds and warming trends will be present until the end of May.
In the northern Dashoguz velayat, a blend of sunshine and clouds is likely, with temperatures gradually increasing from about 24°C initially to nearly 39°C by the weekend. Nighttime temperatures will range from 13°C to 24°C across various districts.
Experts indicate that while rainfall will likely be sporadic and brief, unexpected weather shifts may happen in certain regions due to unstable atmospheric conditions. Citizens are encouraged to hydrate, limit sun exposure during peak hours, and stay informed through official weather updates.
The current forecasts underscore the typical transition into hotter summer conditions in Central Asia, along with the potential for temporary atmospheric instability that can lead to scattered rain. Weather officials are actively monitoring climate trends as temperatures rise toward summer.
