Turkish Airlines Relaunches Flights to Misrata After 10-Year Hiatus

A Welcome Return to Misrata

Turkish Airlines has officially resumed flights to Misrata, Libya’s third-largest city, after a long 10-year pause. Flights have restarted between Istanbul and Misrata, marking a renewed chapter in the airline’s regional connectivity efforts.

Why Flights Were Suspended

Since January 2015, Turkish Airlines had suspended service to Misrata due to civil unrest in Libya. Safety concerns and political instability led to the suspension, leaving travelers without a direct link between Libya and Istanbul for an entire decade.

Back in the Air—Three Times a Week

The new route operates three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Flights depart Istanbul at 11:30 a.m., arriving in Misrata at 2:25 p.m. The return flight leaves Misrata at 4:25 p.m., touching down in Istanbul at 7:15 p.m., providing convenient mid-day travel options.

Building on an Established Libyan Network

With this relaunch, Misrata becomes the airline’s third destination in Libya, joining Tripoli and Benghazi. This expanded network reflects a growing focus on connecting the country’s key urban centers with Turkey’s global aviation hub.

Affordable Fares to Encourage Travel

To mark the relaunch, passengers booking by September 9 can enjoy special fares: USD 349 one way from Istanbul to Misrata and USD 249 on the return leg. These fares are valid for travel until November 30, encouraging early bookings and travel momentum.

A Symbol of Regional Stability

The return of services to Misrata symbolizes improving conditions in Libya and the restoration of essential travel links. It’s a positive sign for the city’s recovery, suggesting growing confidence among international carriers.
