Tragic Collision in Bangkok: 8 Lives Lost, Over 20 Hurt

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

In a tragic incident on Saturday afternoon, a cargo train collided with a public bus in Bangkok, resulting in the deaths of at least eight individuals and over 20 injuries.

Local sources indicate the crash occurred near an airport rail link station in central Bangkok. Emergency personnel from the Erawan Medical Center reported the fatalities and transported several injured passengers to local hospitals.

Footage circulating on social media captured the moments before the incident, showing several vehicles stationary at a railway crossing when the cargo train struck an orange public bus at the front of the line. The force of the collision caused nearby vehicles to be dragged along the tracks and the bus ended up striking an expressway pillar.

Following the crash, the bus erupted in flames, consuming it entirely. The impact also flung several motorcycles and their riders onto the roadway.

Firefighters and rescue teams arrived promptly, managing to suppress the blaze. Subsequent images displayed rescue workers searching through the burnt bus for victims and survivors.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of this tragic accident. More information is expected as rescue efforts continue.
