Trump Criticizes Israel’s Attack in Qatar, Calls It Harmful to U.S. Goals

U.S. President Donald Trump has strongly criticized Israel’s recent attack on Hamas leaders in Qatar. He said the attack “does not advance Israel or America’s goals” and expressed that he feels “very badly” about where it happened.

This is unusual because Trump rarely openly criticizes Israel, which is one of America’s closest allies in the Middle East. His comments show how serious the situation is and how much it could affect relationships between countries.

What Happened in Qatar?

The attack took place in the Qatari capital, Doha. Israeli fighter jets carried out a “precise strike” using advanced weapons, and Hamas confirmed that six people were killed, including one member of Qatar’s security forces. Fortunately, most of Hamas’s leadership team survived the attack.

The Israeli military said that their target was Hamas’s senior leaders and that they used “precise munitions” for the strike. According to reports, 15 fighter jets were involved and fired 10 bombs at one target.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that he authorized the attack and said that Hamas leaders “would not have immunity” from punishment.

Trump’s Reaction: A Rare Rebuke

After the attack, Trump used his social media platform to share his thoughts. He said he was told about the attack by U.S. military officials but was informed “too late to stop it.”

He made it clear that the decision was made by Netanyahu and not by him. He also praised Qatar as a “strong ally and friend” and pointed out that such attacks damage peace efforts.

Trump wrote, “Unilaterally bombing inside Qatar, a Sovereign Nation and close Ally of the United States, that is working very hard and bravely taking risks with us to broker Peace, does not advance Israel or America’s goals.”

Later, in front of reporters, Trump added that he was “very unhappy about the way that it went down.” He called for the release of Israeli hostages and promised that he would give “a full statement” soon.

A Close Relationship with Qatar

Qatar is an important partner for the U.S. The country hosts a large U.S. military base, where around 10,000 American soldiers are stationed. Qatar also helps with peace talks between Hamas and Israel and has played a major role since the October 7 attacks last year.

Trump himself has praised Qatar many times. Earlier this year, the two countries signed an economic deal worth $1.2 trillion, which Trump described as “historic.”

Additionally, Qatar gifted Trump a $400 million private jet, which he will use as the new Air Force One, the official plane of the U.S. president.

Qatar’s Strong Reaction

Qatar’s foreign ministry strongly condemned the attack. Officials said it was a “blatant violation” of international law and that they were not informed beforehand. Majed Al-Ansari, a Qatari spokesperson, said that U.S. officials only contacted them during the sound of explosions.

This has caused tension because Qatar has hosted Hamas’s political leaders since 2012 and has been helping both sides talk indirectly. By targeting Hamas in Qatar, Israel may have put diplomatic efforts at risk.

Trump Stands by Peace and Hostage Rescue

Even though Trump was critical of Israel’s actions, he also emphasized that Hamas is responsible for the misery of people in Gaza. He wrote that “eliminating Hamas” is still a worthy goal but insisted that the release of hostages must happen immediately.

He wants the war to end and for the hostages and the bodies of the dead to be returned. His message shows that he supports peace and human rights but opposes actions that could make the situation worse.

What’s Next for the Middle East?

The attack in Qatar shows how complicated and fragile peace efforts are in the Middle East. Trump’s rebuke of Netanyahu is rare but sends a message to Israel and other countries that unilateral military actions can harm diplomatic efforts.

Netanyahu, however, remains determined to continue fighting Hamas and defending Israel. Trump’s comments may help protect U.S. relations with allies like Qatar, but it is uncertain if they will stop military actions from escalating.

Experts worry that without cooperation and respect for international rules, the conflict could grow worse. The U.S., Qatar, and other countries will need to work together to prevent more violence and suffering.

Conclusion: A Turning Point for Peace Efforts

Israel’s attack in Doha has sparked international outrage and damaged ongoing peace efforts. President Trump’s rare criticism of Israel shows how serious the situation is becoming.

While both Israel’s fight against Hamas and the U.S. desire for peace remain, actions like this could make it harder to build trust and find lasting solutions.

The coming days will be important to see if world leaders can come together to prevent further violence and support diplomatic efforts. For now, the attack has made clear that peace in the Middle East is a delicate process that requires patience, cooperation, and respect for allies.
