The legal proceedings against former NHL star Ryan Kesler are set to move forward, as a judge has confirmed that his sexual misconduct case will proceed to trial. The court determined that the prosecution had sufficiently presented probable cause during the preliminary examination.
Kesler, aged 41, is facing two fourth-degree misdemeanor charges of criminal sexual conduct, to which he has entered a plea of not guilty. The alleged incidents occurred on January 1 in Orchard Lake, Michigan.
Originally from Livonia, Michigan, Kesler enjoyed a successful NHL career playing for the Vancouver Canucks from 2003 to 2014 before joining the Anaheim Ducks, where he remained until his retirement in 2019. He also represented Team USA in the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics, earned the Frank J. Selke Trophy as the league’s top defensive forward in 2011, and played a crucial role in leading Vancouver to the Stanley Cup Final that same year.
