A devastating incident unfolded in Buggenhout, Belgium, on Tuesday morning as a train crashed into a school minibus, claiming the lives of four individuals and leaving others hurt.
Deputy Prime Minister Maxime Prévot reported that the minibus, meant to transport students, was involved in the collision during the early hours.
The public prosecutor's office revealed that the deceased included two children, aged 12 and 15, a 27-year-old teacher, and the 49-year-old bus driver.
At the time of the accident, the minibus was carrying nine individuals: seven children, a supervisor, and the driver.
Police are informed that five remaining children were hospitalized in serious condition but have since stabilized, as conveyed by authorities.
The supervisor aboard the bus managed to survive the incident.
An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
