Yunnan, China – In a sorrowful incident, a train mishap in southwestern China has claimed the lives of 11 railway workers, with two additional workers sustaining injuries, as confirmed by local authorities on Thursday.

The event unfolded in the early hours at Luoyang Town station in Kunming, where the train was engaged in seismic equipment testing. The collision occurred with construction workers who had unfortunately entered the track area. Local railway officials reported that the train was “passing normally through a curve inside the station” when the incident transpired.

First responders were swift to act, transporting the injured workers to hospitals for immediate care. By midday, transportation in the vicinity had resumed normal operations.

As investigations continue, officials are probing the accident's causes. China has witnessed a number of industrial incidents, often attributed to ambiguous regulations and inadequate safety protocols.

Authorities have reiterated the need for strict adherence to safety measures to avert future occurrences of such tragedies.
