Toronto authorities are stepping up the search for a missing 14-year-old girl, Esther “Esti,” amid growing concerns for her safety. Last seen on the evening of May 15 near Earl Bales Park in North York, the search includes efforts from both the police and local volunteers aiming to locate her.
Investigators report that Esther was last spotted around 11:15 p.m. near a community centre adjacent to the park. She has not been heard from since that time. Described as approximately 5-foot-2 with brown hair and a medium build, she was believed to be wearing a green shirt and grey pants at the time of her disappearance.
The Toronto Police have classified the operation as “Priority 1,” mobilizing significant resources for the search, which includes the deployment of drones, mounted police, marine units, and ground search teams throughout the densely wooded areas of the park and nearby communities.
Additionally, hundreds of local residents have joined the search operations. Various community organizations, including Shomrim Safety Patrol, are assisting law enforcement by distributing flyers, canvassing the neighborhood, and reviewing surveillance footage. Search teams have been actively going door-to-door, asking residents to check backyards, sheds, garages, and any security camera feeds for clues.
Esther's family has made heartfelt public appeals for her safe return, emphasizing in their statements to the media that she is “not in trouble.” They have urged anyone with relevant information to reach out to the police promptly. The community is deeply engaged in supporting the search, with residents rallying to raise awareness online.
Authorities have expressed growing concern for Esther's well-being due to the duration of her absence. Investigators are appealing to local businesses, transit staff, and community members to be vigilant and report any potential sightings, suggesting that public involvement is crucial in the search efforts.
The case has garnered substantial attention across Canada and among international community networks, with volunteer teams visiting from outside Toronto to offer their assistance as searches proceed continuously.
Toronto Police are urging anyone who might have information regarding Esther’s disappearance to contact local law enforcement or emergency services without delay. The priority remains to bring the teenager back home safely and swiftly.
