Prabhas’ new horror-comedy, The Raja Saab, continues to capture attention at the box office, even with a slight decline following its impressive debut. On Sunday, the film garnered ₹19.1 crore across all languages in India, raising its domestic total to ₹108.26 crore.
The movie had a remarkable global launch, exceeding ₹150 crore during its initial weekend, and is targeting ₹200 crore worldwide by Makar Sankranti on January 14. Although Sunday’s figures dropped from Saturday’s ₹26 crore, audience reception remains strong.
Directed by Maruthi Dasari, The Raja Saab portrays a young heir diving into the enigma of his grandfather's unexplained disappearance, confronting a malevolent spirit in a haunted estate. The film features a star-studded cast, including Prabhas, Boman Irani, Sanjay Dutt, Zarina Wahab, Malavika Mohanan, and Nidhhi Agerwal.
For Prabhas, a opening weekend exceeding ₹100 crore is a regular occurrence. His previous projects, such as Kalki 2898 AD and Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, also enjoyed substantial openings. Kalki 2898 AD eventually amassed over ₹543 crore domestically, while Salaar gathered over ₹200 crore in its initial weekend. Furthermore, the much-discussed Adipurush crossed over ₹215 crore in its opening weekend.
In an exciting turn, a sequel titled The Raja Saab 2: Circus 1935 has been announced, with Maruthi Dasari returning as director, although the release date remains under wraps. Fans are thrilled for the subsequent installment of this horror-comedy saga.
