Thailand's Strategic 2027 Budget Aims to Elevate Tourism and Local Economies

Post by : Shakul

In Bangkok, Natthariya Thaweewong, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, convened a pivotal meeting to strategize the 2027 budget. The objective was to explore the potential of tourism and sports in driving economic growth and elevating lifestyles, particularly for local communities.

The meeting saw the participation of high-ranking officials from various departments, utilizing both physical attendance and online platforms to encourage widespread engagement. Central to the dialogue was the need to formulate a prudent budget that prioritizes impactful projects over unnecessary expenses.

Attendees underscored the significance of judicious government expenditure. They emphasized that every budget allocation must aim to directly benefit citizens and contribute to national progress, ensuring resources are utilized efficiently.

A central theme was the “Community Plus” initiative, designed to enhance income opportunities for local communities through tourism and sports activities. This initiative also seeks to uplift living conditions and create additional employment avenues.

To support this effort, the government plans to train tourism and sports volunteers across all 77 provinces in Thailand, equipping them to assist tourists, promote local culture, and foster regional tourism development.

Moreover, there was a call for enhanced inter-departmental collaboration, aiming to unify national, regional, and local strategies, thereby yielding more effective outcomes.

Additionally, the role of tourist assistance personnel was redefined to ensure closer ties with local communities. Their mandate will include improving safety measures, resolving issues expediently, and building trust between tourists and residents.

The meeting also aimed at synchronizing tourism strategies with local development needs, ensuring that planning aligns with the actual requirements of each area while promoting balanced and inclusive growth.

In summary, the government is optimistic that tourism and sports can significantly bolster the economy. Through strategic planning, effective collaboration, and resource optimization, Thailand seeks to unlock new opportunities, enhance earnings, and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
