Thailand and Vietnam have taken significant strides in their bilateral relationship as Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul warmly welcomed Vietnamese President To Lam during his official visit. This visit underscores the dedication of both nations in fostering cooperation across various sectors.
The welcoming ceremony occurred on Thursday morning at Government House in Bangkok, shortly after Prime Minister Anutin's diplomatic journey to France. President To Lam, who also holds the position of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, was accompanied by his wife Ngo Phuong Ly as esteemed guests of the Thai government.
During the ceremony, Prime Minister Anutin greeted the Vietnamese delegation amiably, accompanying President To Lam in reviewing the military honor guard. Subsequently, both leaders advanced to the Thai Khu Fah Building for an official group photo, the signing of the guest book, and an exchange of gifts within the Ivory Room.
Post-ceremony, both sides engaged in focused bilateral discussions centered around regional and international issues. Thailand and Vietnam reiterated their commitment to strengthen collaboration in economic growth, trade, investment, national security, tourism, and regional partnerships across Southeast Asia.
The discussions broadened into a plenary assembly that included high-ranking ministers from both administrations. Thailand’s delegation featured Deputy Prime Ministers managing finance, transport, commerce, and higher education, while the Vietnamese group comprised senior Communist Party officials, defense representatives, foreign affairs delegates, and ministers overseeing industry and technology.
Officials from both nations stressed the necessity for intensified collaboration in light of evolving global economic and geopolitical conditions. The dialogues reflected mutual efforts to enhance connectivity, promote regional trade opportunities, and fortify ASEAN collaboration on sustainable development objectives.
President To Lam's official visit marks a pivotal diplomatic achievement in the relationship between Bangkok and Hanoi. Analysts believe that these high-level talks may pave the way for expanded economic agreements and stronger strategic alignment between the two nations.
