Abu Dhabi is set for an electrifying weekend as it hosts the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Judo Tournament, featuring 14 dynamic events for both men and women, from November 28th to 30th. Organized by the UAE Judo Federation and backed by national sports organizations, this championship will be governed by the International Judo Federation, ensuring elite-level competition with Olympic ranking implications.
Spanning three days, the Mubadala Arena will feature morning elimination rounds on three mats, ramping up excitement for the evening finals, which commence daily at 5:00 pm on a single central mat. Competitors will vie for a total of 56 medals—with 14 gold, 14 silver, and 28 bronze on offer, highlighting the event's stature and competitiveness.
The men's events encompass seven weight categories: –60 kg, 66 kg, 73 kg, 81 kg, 90 kg, 100 kg, and +100 kg. Similarly, the women's competition mirrors this structure, including –48 kg, 52 kg, 57 kg, 63 kg, 70 kg, 78 kg, and +78 kg groups, attracting top talent globally.
The official draw is set for Thursday at 2:00 pm via video conference, where internationally ranked judokas and members of the UAE national team will finalize matchups. With €154,000 in prize money and key Olympic qualification points at stake, this tournament promises three days filled with intense action and remarkable performances in Abu Dhabi.
