Mleiha, Sharjah:

During the fourth harvest celebration of the “Sabaa Sanabel” wheat farm in Mleiha, His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, made a significant announcement. The event marked the launch of the premium “QAND” chocolate brand and the introduction of the digital platform “Mazraaty”, aimed at aiding farmers and livestock breeders.

Emphasis on Natural Eating

In his address, Sheikh Sultan highlighted the critical role of natural and organic foods, cautioning against the health risks associated with chemically treated products. He reiterated the necessity of protecting natural food systems for enhanced health outcomes.

Commitment to Farmers’ Welfare

The Ruler applauded the enhanced market reputation of Sharjah’s agricultural products internationally and disclosed that 580 farmers have gained from the wheat seed distribution initiative driven by the Department of Agriculture and Livestock.

He pledged continued governmental support, including assistance with land preparation, soil enhancement, and the rehabilitation of non-arable land.

Innovative Farming Technology

He discussed the success of the “nano clay” technology, which enhances soil quality, improves water retention, and escalates crop yields. This technology will soon be made available to farmers to optimize agricultural output in arid conditions.

Addressing Cost and Water Issues

To alleviate farming costs, several initiatives have been launched, including drip irrigation systems in Kalba and Al Madina Lake, alongside government support for electricity expenses. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of effective marketing to elevate healthy agricultural products.

Plans to Enhance Wheat Production

Sheikh Sultan encouraged more farmers across the UAE to participate in the wheat initiative and announced plans for a new wheat farm that would double production and penetrate global markets.

Comprehensive Food Security Strategy

He affirmed that Sharjah is developing a holistic agricultural ecosystem, which encompasses wheat farming, dairy production in Mleiha, poultry ventures, as well as fruit and vegetable farming to assure high-quality, nutritious food for the community.

Mazraaty Platform Launched

The newly unveiled “Mazraaty” platform will streamline farmers' access to government services, utilizing advanced technologies such as thermal imaging and data analytics to monitor plant health and provide timely alerts.

Introduction of QAND Chocolate Brand

Additionally, the luxury “QAND” chocolate brand was introduced, crafted from organic “Iktifa” ingredients. The brand's goal is to globally embody Emirati culture while endorsing natural products.

Focus on Research and Innovation

The ceremony showcased cutting-edge research, including wheat improvement projects at the UAE’s pioneering biotechnology lab. Investigations on nano clay and sustainable agricultural practices were presented by university students.

Involvement of Youth and Community

Students and young innovators displayed projects, including a smart robot aimed at combating desertification and bolstering food security. Educational initiatives like “Baba Sultan Healthy Food” have been implemented in 57 institutions to advocate for healthy eating among youth.

Progressive Harvest with Modern Technology

The wheat harvest was executed using sophisticated machinery capable of efficiently cutting, separating grains, and compressing straw, showcasing Sharjah’s advancement in intelligent agriculture.

Recognition and Celebration

Sheikh Sultan honored strategic partners who played a role in the fruitful agricultural season. The event culminated with cultural performances and a heartfelt tribute from over 2,000 students recognizing his contributions to food security and sustainable farming.
