The Rochester Institute of Technology Dubai (RIT Dubai) hosted the graduation of its 15th cohort in Dubai Silicon Oasis, with esteemed patron Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), present.
The ceremony took place at the Dubai World Trade Centre, recognizing the achievements of 394 graduates across 16 diverse undergraduate and master’s programmes.
Key dignitaries such as Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Essa Kazim, the US Consul General Robert Raines, and Dr. Yousef Al Assaf were in attendance to celebrate this accomplishment.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum highlighted that this graduation exemplifies Dubai’s dedication to nurturing talent equipped to drive innovation and advanced technologies, essential for cultivating a knowledge-based economy. He emphasized education’s vital role in enhancing Dubai's global competitiveness, aligning with the UAE Centennial 2071 and “We the UAE 2031” vision.
Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni noted the collaboration between DIEZ and RIT Dubai is pivotal in creating a thriving economic ecosystem centered on innovation and sustainable growth. He acknowledged the institution's significant contribution to preparing skilled talent for industries focused on the future.
RIT Dubai's President, Dr. Yousef Al Assaf, remarked on the institution's continuous growth in academic offerings to align with the evolving global job market. He mentioned that this year marked the graduation of the first batch in Psychology, alongside advancements in research dedicated to sustainability, smart cities, and advanced manufacturing.
The graduating class included students from nine different bachelor’s programmes such as electrical and mechanical engineering, marketing, and cybersecurity. Additionally, seven master’s programmes, focusing on areas like data analytics and engineering management, also saw graduates.
Since its inception in 2010, RIT Dubai has graduated over 2,490 students from a range of bachelor’s, master’s, and diploma courses, reinforcing its stature in Dubai’s academic and innovation sectors.
This year, RIT Dubai introduced new undergraduate degrees in Management Information Systems and Advertising & Public Relations, as well as accredited micro-master’s programmes in Health Informatics and Futures Foresight to provide flexible higher education options.
The university also unveiled a dual-degree engineering programme, aiming to streamline the completion of undergraduate and master’s degrees cost-efficiently.
Future initiatives include launching a master’s programme in Integrated Design, a bachelor’s in Computer Engineering, and micro-programmes in Accounting and Financial Analytics, along with a media design programme for People of Determination.
RIT Dubai, a branch of the Rochester Institute of Technology, continues to enhance its position as a hub for innovation and advanced education in the UAE through specialized initiatives and collaborations with both governmental and private sectors.
