Record Participation Reflects UAE’s Deep Devotion to Quranic Learning

The 26th edition of the Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Holy Quran Competition has begun in Dubai, marking one of the most inspiring events of 2025. Organized by the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, the final round has drawn record participation, showing the UAE’s strong dedication to the Holy Quran and its teachings. The event, held at the Award’s headquarters in Dubai, will continue until October 23, with contestants from across the Emirates taking part.

This annual competition, named after Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has grown into one of the UAE’s most respected Quranic initiatives. It reflects Dubai’s vision of promoting Islamic values, encouraging Quran memorization, and supporting the study of its meanings and recitation rules.

A Record-Breaking Year

This year, the competition witnessed an all-time high in participation, with more than 1,660 people registering from all seven emirates. Out of these, 1,514 contestants qualified to compete after initial screenings. The participants include 868 males and 798 females, showing an almost equal balance of gender representation.

One of the most remarkable aspects of this year’s event is the diversity of participants. Competitors from 55 nationalities are taking part, representing the UAE’s multicultural society. The majority are Emiratis — around 1,028 contestants — followed by participants from Egypt, India, Pakistan, Syria, and many other countries. This shows how the spirit of the Holy Quran brings together people of different backgrounds in harmony and faith.

Faith, Talent, and Dedication

The Sheikha Hind Quran Competition is more than a contest — it is a celebration of spiritual devotion and human excellence. Each contestant spends months or even years memorizing the Quran and mastering the art of Tajweed, which refers to the correct pronunciation and rhythm during recitation.

The participants are judged not only on accuracy but also on the clarity, beauty, and emotional expression of their recitations. Their voices echo through the halls with deep meaning and sincerity, reminding everyone of the power of the divine message.

Modern Tools for Fair Evaluation

In this year’s edition, advanced digital evaluation systems have been introduced to ensure fairness and transparency. These tools allow judges to score contestants in real time, making the process more accurate and organized.

Such innovations show how Dubai combines tradition with technology — preserving the essence of Islamic faith while using modern tools to improve efficiency. Participants say these systems make them feel confident, as they know their performance will be evaluated with fairness and clarity.

Promoting a Culture of Learning and Unity

The Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Holy Quran Competition has always been a symbol of unity and education in the UAE. It encourages both young and old to spend time with the Quran — reading, memorizing, and understanding it.

For many families, this competition has become a source of pride. Parents encourage their children to participate, not just to win, but to strengthen their connection with faith. Schools and Islamic centers across the Emirates also play an important role by training students for the contest.

Through this event, the UAE shows how religion and community can come together in peaceful and meaningful ways.

A Legacy of Devotion and Excellence

Over the years, the Sheikha Hind Quran Competition has grown in size and reputation. It is now recognized as one of the most respected platforms for Quranic memorization in the region. The event honors not only the participants but also the values that define the UAE — faith, discipline, and excellence.

Organizers of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award say the purpose of the event is not only to identify talented reciters but also to spread the beauty of the Quran’s message throughout society. By doing this, the competition helps build a generation that lives by the morals and wisdom of the Holy Quran.

A Celebration That Brings Generations Together

What makes the competition even more special is its inclusive spirit. It welcomes participants of all ages — from young children just beginning to memorize short verses, to elders who have devoted their lives to studying the Quran.

This unity of generations shows the deep love and respect the UAE has for its religious heritage. It also highlights how the country continues to be a center of learning and faith for Muslims around the world.

A Bright Future for Quranic Education

As the 2025 competition continues, the atmosphere at the venue is filled with both excitement and reverence. Each recitation reminds the audience of the timeless importance of the Holy Quran in guiding hearts and communities.

By supporting such events, Dubai continues its mission to become a global center for Quranic education and excellence. The competition stands as proof that faith, knowledge, and innovation can come together beautifully in the modern world.

The Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Holy Quran Competition is not just an event — it is a celebration of unity, devotion, and the spiritual strength that connects people across the Emirates.
