Vivek Ramaswamy Achieves Unprecedented $19.5M Fundraising in Ohio

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has made waves in Ohio politics by raising a staggering $9.88 million in the latter half of 2025. This brings his overall fundraising total to over $19.57 million, establishing a new high for governor candidates in Ohio at this phase of the race.

According to his campaign, the fundraising period from July to December alone surpassed the $9.7 million accumulated in the year's first half. Together, these figures represent the most robust financial backing for any gubernatorial candidate in Ohio's history. Importantly, the campaign emphasized that these amounts do not include any personal contributions from Ramaswamy.

Since launching his campaign in late February 2025, Ramaswamy has been actively engaging with voters through over 110 campaign events that also served as fundraising occasions. His campaign highlights the grassroots nature of his support, with tens of thousands of individual donors contributing rather than relying on large personal investments.

The magnitude of Ramaswamy's fundraising has already eclipsed the total contributions received by various past gubernatorial candidates in Ohio. His initial finance reports have shown that he raised more funds in two filings than many former governors and prominent candidates from both major parties did across entire campaigns in earlier years.

In addition to impressive fundraising, Ramaswamy's campaign is basking in a growing list of endorsements from Ohio’s varied political and civic factions, including organizations traditionally aligned with Democrats. This early financial prowess has catapulted Ramaswamy to the forefront of candidates vying to succeed term-limited Governor Mike DeWine in the upcoming 2026 elections.

Should he win, Ramaswamy would join the ranks as the third Indian American to hold a gubernatorial seat in the U.S., following Bobby Jindal and Nikki Haley. His campaign finance report for the period ending December 31, 2025, is set to be filed with the Ohio Secretary of State by January 31, 2026.
