Qatar PM Condemns Israel, Arab and Islamic Nations Stand in Solidarity

Israel’s attack sparks emergency summit

Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani has strongly condemned Israel’s attack on Doha, calling it a “barbaric violation” of his country’s sovereignty. He expressed gratitude for the solidarity shown by Arab and Islamic nations, as well as friendly countries worldwide, who have condemned the attack and pledged full support for Qatar’s right to defend itself.

The prime minister’s remarks came during an urgent meeting in Doha, where foreign ministers from Arab and Islamic countries gathered on Sunday. Their leaders are set to meet on Monday for an emergency summit to discuss the next steps following Israel’s strike on Qatar last week.

Arab and Islamic nations pledge support

Sheikh Mohammed highlighted that the unity displayed by Arab and Islamic countries is a powerful sign of regional solidarity. He said Qatar would pursue legal measures to preserve its sovereignty and urged the international community to hold Israel accountable for its actions.

“It is time to abandon double standards,” Sheikh Mohammed said, stressing that Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza and now its attack on Doha must be met with firm and united action.

Israel’s strike and its consequences

The Israeli strike on Doha, which killed five Hamas members and a Qatari security officer, narrowly missed a negotiation team working on a ceasefire proposal backed by the United States. This attack shocked the region and drew widespread condemnation.

Leaders of the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) are preparing a joint resolution that could include concrete measures against Israel. The details of the resolution are expected to be announced during Monday’s summit.

Calls for accountability and justice

OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha said the situation required immediate steps, including pushing for a United Nations resolution to end Israel’s repeated violations against Palestinians. He emphasized that the two-state solution remains the only path to lasting peace.

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit echoed this, saying Israel must face consequences for its actions, including the killing of civilians, forced displacement, and collective punishment.

Stronger response expected from summit

Unlike previous meetings, which often ended in statements of condemnation, analysts say this summit may deliver concrete action. Many believe it will send a strong and unified message to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“This time, it will not just be words,” said political observers in Doha. “The Arab and Islamic nations want to show that they will not accept continuous violations without consequences.”

Qatar’s role and international ties

Qatar, despite being attacked, remains a crucial mediator in ceasefire negotiations for Gaza. The prime minister stressed that Israel’s actions will not stop Qatar from working toward peace and protecting Palestinian rights.

Qatar also remains an important partner of the United States. The country hosts the largest US military base in the region at Al Udeid airbase, and relations with Washington are expected to remain strong despite the recent attack.

Looking ahead

The emergency summit in Doha is expected to release a resolution that not only condemns Israel’s attack but also lays out concrete measures for accountability. The Arab and Islamic world views this as a chance to send a united message that regional sovereignty and human rights cannot be ignored.

For Qatar, the attack has only strengthened its resolve to defend its sovereignty and continue advocating for Palestinians under siege.
