Education as a Cornerstone for Youth Development, Says Qatar Minister

Post by : Mara Rahim

HE Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, articulated the vital importance of educational and academic institutions in fostering national talent and enhancing capabilities. He underscored that these institutions lay the groundwork for youth to cultivate their skills, acquire knowledge, and tackle future challenges effectively.

The Minister asserted that determination, hard work, and resilience are crucial attributes for youth in reaching their ambitions. He noted that these traits not only aid students in their academic pursuits but also enable them to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress. Through their dedication to studies and projects, students can play a significant role in the growth and development of Qatar.

Dr. Al Subaie made these comments during a lecture at the Qatar Foundation's Academic Bridge Program (ABP), which gathered students, senior management personnel, and Abeer Al Khalifa, the President of Pre-University Education at Qatar Foundation. He took this opportunity to motivate students to stay committed to their learning journey and to fully utilize the prospects offered by ABP.

Throughout his visit, the Minister was updated on various student projects centered around environmental sustainability and the innovative application of artificial intelligence. The creativity and problem-solving capabilities showcased in the students’ projects highlighted the superior quality of education and training the ABP provides.

Dr. Al Subaie was also introduced to the academic and training programs available at ABP. These initiatives are designed to equip pre-university students for higher education, enabling them to gain essential skills that will ensure their success in prestigious universities, both locally and abroad. He commended ABP's efforts in bolstering students’ academic journeys and preparing them for future career opportunities.

Initiated in 2001 by HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation and Education Above All, the Academic Bridge Program stands out as one of Qatar’s leading academic platforms, aiming to facilitate students' admissions into universities in Education City along with other top-tier institutions worldwide. It plays a crucial role in bridging the transition from pre-university education to advanced educational opportunities.

Dr. Al Subaie’s visit underlined the critical role of education in developing youth talent and enhancing national capacity. By engaging with students and reviewing their initiatives, the Minister affirmed the significance of academic programs that blend hands-on skills with innovation and creativity. He urged students to maintain their commitment, work diligently, and pursue excellence.

This visit also highlighted Qatar’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing investment in education as a national mandate. Programs like ABP not only pave the way for individual student success but also significantly contribute to the overall advancement of the nation. By nurturing young talent, Qatar is securing a skilled workforce ready to respond to the challenges in a rapidly changing global landscape.
