Qatar Denounces Israeli Assault on Gaza Aid Flotilla in International Waters

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

The State of Qatar has issued a strong condemnation regarding the Israeli occupation's renewed aggression against the Global Sumud Flotilla in international waters, labeling it a blatant violation of international law, humanitarian protocols, and maritime security. Qatar highlighted that this incident underscores the ongoing oppressive blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip.

In a statement released on Monday, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs asserted that the persistent actions of the Israeli occupation are exacerbating the humanitarian situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly in Gaza. The ministry also expressed concern over the harassment and targeting of activists and allies advocating for Palestinian rights.

Qatar emphasized the need for the international community to adopt a coordinated and decisive approach to compel Israel to open border crossings and lift the barriers obstructing humanitarian assistance from reaching Gaza. The ministry called for immediate protective measures for Palestinian civilians affected by the ongoing crisis.

Furthermore, Qatar demanded the swift and unconditional release of all activists detained during the Israeli seizure of the aid flotilla. The country reaffirmed its dedication to humanitarian initiatives aimed at supporting the people of Gaza and called for adherence to international humanitarian law.
